SEO and performance

Get found - and load fast

A good site is worth little if nobody finds it, or if it loads so slowly that people leave first. We work on both: the technical side Google needs, and the milliseconds that decide whether someone stays. We always start with a measurement, never with a hunch.

Measure first, then touch anything

We start with an audit: a full crawl of the site, Google Search Console, Core Web Vitals from real user data and a look at what you actually rank for today. That turns into a list sorted by impact - not by what is quickest to tick off.

You get that list in plain language: what the problem is, what it costs you and roughly what fixing it involves. Where an item is a lot of effort for little gain, we say so just as clearly. You then decide how far we go.

Technical SEO: the foundation

This covers everything that stops Google understanding your site. Indexability and robots.txt, clean canonicals, duplicate content, broken internal links, a structure where important pages are not buried three clicks deep. Plus the sitemap, readable URLs, and sensible titles and meta data per page.

We add structured data (Schema.org) where it genuinely fits - organisation, local business, service, FAQ, products. On multilingual sites that includes hreflang and a consistent language logic, so the German and English versions do not compete with each other.

Speed you can actually feel

We optimise against the Core Web Vitals: LCP, INP and CLS. In practice that usually means images in modern formats and correct sizes, self-hosted fonts instead of third-party servers, less JavaScript loaded later, sensible caching and a clear-out of third-party scripts - trackers and widgets are, in our experience, one of the biggest brakes.

The difference between lab and reality matters to us. A green test score on a fast machine says little if your customers are on a phone on the train. So we look at the field data in Search Console, not just the score of a single test run.

Local SEO for your region

If your customers come from the area, a lot is decided off your website. We set up your Google Business Profile properly, make sure name, address and phone number are consistent across the relevant directories, and build location signals into your pages, including local structured data.

For a business in Schaffhausen and the surrounding area this is often the fastest lever: map results and searches with a place attached bring enquiries while broader rankings are still building. On top of that, local results depend on where the searcher is standing - one municipality further along and the list already looks different.

Frequently asked questions

How long does SEO take to work?

Technical fixes and speed improvements often show within a few weeks, once Google recrawls. For rankings on competitive terms you typically have to think in months, not weeks. Anyone promising you a top position by a given date is guessing.

Can you guarantee a first-page ranking?

No, and nobody can do that honestly. Google does not publish its algorithm and your competitors are working on this too. What we do commit to: traceable work, measurable progress and a straight assessment of where the effort pays off and where it does not.

What does SEO cost with you?

A one-off audit with a list of actions is a different scope from ongoing support over months. After the free first consultation you get a written fixed-price quote, so there is no open-ended bill hanging over you.

Why is my site slow even though it is new?

Most often it is oversized images, fonts and scripts pulled from third-party servers, and tools like tracking, chat widgets or cookie banners. A theme with many plugins also ships code your site never uses. In most cases this can be cleaned up well.

Is SEO worth it for a small local business?

Usually yes, but with a different focus. Instead of chasing broad terms, we work on the Google Business Profile, on location signals and on pages for your specific services. That is cheaper and brings enquiries from your area faster.
