Custom business software

Software that mirrors your workflow - not the other way round

Most companies end up with one spreadsheet that should really be an application - and three tools that refuse to talk to each other. We build software that knows your actual process, ends double data entry and works with the systems you already have. No off-the-shelf product you have to bend yourself around.

When building your own is genuinely worth it

Not every problem needs custom development. If a good standard product fits your case, we will say so - even though we earn nothing from that. Custom software pays off where your process is your advantage, where data gets retyped from one system into another, or where you pay per user per month for a tool you only use a fraction of.

A second, often underrated reason: licence models change. If your core processes live inside a tool that belongs to someone else, you carry every price rise and every discontinued feature. With a custom build the source code is yours - including the right to take it to someone else later.

Integrations: your existing systems stay

We rarely replace everything. Usually the new software sits between what already runs - accounting, ERP, inventory, CRM, time tracking, your online shop - and pulls data in through an API or pushes it back. Invoices, stock levels, customer records or timesheets then move automatically instead of by copy and paste.

Where a system offers no usable interface, there is almost always a way round: scheduled file imports, an inbound mailbox, webhooks. We check this before quoting so nothing unpleasant surfaces mid-project.

The database is the foundation

In our experience, software that later becomes hard to change rarely fails on its design - it fails on its data model. So we spend time up front on the real question: which objects actually exist in your business and how do they relate - job, line item, customer, appointment, employee, document.

That includes the things you only miss later: a traceable history of who changed what and when, permissions per role, proper deletion rules under revDSG and the GDPR, and migrations that let the model evolve without losing data.

Small steps instead of one big launch

We never start with the complete system. The first thing we build is whatever removes the most manual work - often that is a single workflow. It goes live, your people use it, and what they learn feeds into the next step. To get that first workflow right, we look at it where it actually happens - in the warehouse, in the workshop, at reception. From Neuhausen am Rheinfall that is a short drive for businesses in the region rather than a day of travel.

You see a working state on a staging environment every two weeks. That sounds mundane, but it is the difference between software that gets used and software that quietly gets replaced by a spreadsheet again after launch.

How a project runs

  1. 01

    First consultation

We look at your workflow and tell you honestly whether a custom build is the right route. Free and without obligation.

  2. 02

    Analysis

We walk through the process step by step, talk to the people who use it daily, and pin down the data model and the integrations.

  3. 03

    Concept and quote

You get the scope, the stages and a fixed price in writing - including what is deliberately out of scope.

  4. 04

    First stage

We build the part with the biggest payoff first and show you a working state on a staging environment every two weeks.

  5. 05

    Rollout

Data migration, training for your team and a supported go-live, with the old system still available as a safety net.

  6. 06

    Ongoing work

Support, maintenance and new features - in stages, at the pace your business can absorb.

Frequently asked questions

What does custom software cost?

The price follows the number of workflows, users and integrations. That is exactly why we do the analysis first and quote afterwards - with a fixed price per stage, so you are not paying open-ended by the hour. The first consultation is free.

How long does development take?

A first usable stage is typically ready within a few weeks; a complete system takes several months depending on scope. We cut it into stages on purpose so you are not waiting until the very end before anything is in production.

Can we keep our existing software?

Usually yes. Accounting and ERP normally stay where they are and we connect them through an interface. Before quoting we check which APIs your systems offer and what is realistically possible with them.

Who owns the source code?

You do. You get the code and the documentation, and you can have the software developed further by someone else if you want. We build on widely used, open technologies rather than a proprietary system only we can operate.

Where is our data stored and is it compliant?

On request we run the application on servers in Switzerland or the EU. Permissions, change logging, encryption and retention rules are built to fit revDSG and the GDPR, and we document which data is processed for what purpose.
